Here is some interesting information about the BDD I want to share with you. Source: Roadmap presented by M. Niehaus (Microsoft)

New versions of the BDD will be introduced in waves:

"deployment 4" - currently under development

"deployment 5" - development starts late 2008

There will be multiple "releases" within each "wave".

Naming is still under discussion (Windows Server Deployment? BDD 2008? Deployment 4?)

Scope "D4":

Supports existing technologies (WDS, SMS 2003)
Simple Migration path to SCCM (LTI and ZTI)
Advanced Windows 2003/2008 Server deployment (fixed IP, advanced disk config, OS role, Hydration)

Integration with SCCM 2007:

Single interface (no more workbench, SCCM MMC)
New wizards, actions and nodes
Task sequence-based engine is everywhere
Pre-built Task Sequences and "snippets" (partial tasks sequences) are added
Data-driven deployments based on variables (still supprts DB and customsettings.ini)

Timeline:

Q3 2007: initial SCCM support

Q4 2007: Beta support for Windows 2008 (release 1)

H1 2008: support for SCCM SP1 (release 2)
